Play Club Volleyball with La Jolla Volleyball Club (LJV) and get great technical training, learn to compete, have fun, and be on a club team for the rest of the school year! Practices are in the evenings, typically at 7pm, so you can also do other after-school activities! We have team levels for all skills, from beginners to advanced (travel teams) players! General age guidelines for non-travel teams:
- 4th-6th graders = 12U
- 7th graders = 13U
- 8th graders = 14U
Our top 14U team may have the option to be a travel team, participating in SCVA tournaments in Orange County. All other teams 14U and younger will play in local tournaments in San Diego County.
We plan to field multiple teams in the 14U, 13U and 12U age divisions. Coaching assignments will be announced during tryouts.

— At LJV, we do NOT charge late fees for registering for tryouts late, nor do we cut off our tryouts registrations 🙂
Age divisions: USA Volleyball has changed the age cutoff to July 1st, so if you were born in July or August, double-check your new age division for this season! This only matters if you will play on a competitive “travel” team; otherwise, play with your grade levels and peers.

Season Dates & Details for 10U-14U teams: Tryouts and forming teams in the Fall, beginning practices in Oct/Nov, then tournaments December-May/June, depending on your team.

Fees: Season Fees will cover practice costs including gym rental, coaches wages/travel, equipment, coach training/certification/background checks, uniforms, insurance and an LJV practice shirt or tank top. Approximate fees for 12U will be $2200 for the season. Local 13/14U teams will be approx $2600, and travel team will be approx $3800-4200, depending on travel tournaments. No refunds will be given once you’ve paid your deposit and committed for the season. Our club expenses remain the same, even if a players chooses not to continue during the season so we cannot offer refunds or cancel your payment plan. Payment plans are a courtesy to help spread out the fees, not reflective of actual month-by-month costs. We appreciate your understanding.
More specific season/team pricing will be available at tryouts.
Initial deposit of $500 for local teams and $650 for travel teams will be due (online) on Tuesday Oct 3rd
Practices/Schedule: Each LJV team will have a regular weekday practice (Tues, Wed, Thurs or Fri) at HTH-Mesa and a Sunday afternoon/evening practice at Mission Bay High School gym.
Cancellation: If a tournament is scheduled, entered, then canceled, your tournament fees will be refunded. If all club operations are shut down, then we will issue a prorated refund for gym/coaching costs for future/canceled practices, once it is determined that there is no possibility of making those up. Some club expenses are recurring and non-refundable so it will not be a full refund.
