More about Coach V:
More than 45 years of volleyball!
I started playing volleyball at the age of 14 and after one year I was recruited for the youth national team. I played as a setter in top teams in the National League for 18 years. Winning the National Championship with Steaua Bucharest and 5 times vice-champion was the best results.
With the Senior National Team of Romania I won the Bronze Medal at the Olympics Games and I participated in 2 World Championships, in Italy and Argentina. I won Gold and Silver Medals at the Balkan Games also. With the Junior National Team of Romania I participated to the final round of the European Championships.
My experience as a coach started when I was a player and coach at the same time at several clubs teams. Since 1993 I have trained women and men teams at all different levels.
From 1995 to 2015 I was the Director of the National Team at the Romanian Volleyball Federation, men and women, seniors, juniors and youth, and starting with 1998 I was the General Secretary of the Romanian Federation, too.
In 2005 I was elected as a member of the European Cups Commission of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) and during 2005-2011 I was also CEV Supervisor for the National Teams and European Cups Clubs Matches.
My whole family is involved with volleyball:
My daughter Suzana played for the Romanian Juniors National Team and then for Division 1 NCAA at George Washington University. Since 2003 until now is beach volleyball player in AVP.
My wife Daniela and my son Vladimir are also involved in volleyball as coaches.
And last but not least, I love skiing and swimming and I have a great passion for my puppy, Teddy, a 7 pound Yorkshire Terrier.
