Kayla Burns

Kayla Burns was born and raised in Portland, OR, and has now called San Diego home for the past eight years. This is her fifth season coaching with La Jolla Volleyball Club, where she will be head coaching the 15-1s team this season. In past seasons, she has led both the 14-1s and 15-1s teams.

Kayla brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the court. She began playing volleyball in 6th grade, leaving basketball behind and quickly finding her true passion in the sport. Her club teams in high school competed nationally in tournaments across the country—including in Reno, Seattle, Las Vegas, Orlando, Denver, and Spokane—while consistently playing at a highly competitive level. In high school, she was a varsity starter from her freshman year on, primarily as an outside hitter, and helped lead her 6A team to the state tournament every season.

A graduate of San Diego State University with a B.S. in Finance, Kayla currently works as an interior designer for a real estate investment company. Outside of her professional career, coaching has remained one of her biggest passions. She thrives on creating meaningful connections with her players and takes pride in helping them grow both on and off the court. Kayla is especially passionate about building confidence in young athletes and creating a positive, high-energy environment where players can develop their skills and love for the game.

She is proud to be part of the LJV family and is excited for another competitive and rewarding season.
