General Info
Tryouts are held in late August, typically held in conjunction with one of our SUNDAY CLINICS; no separate payment required to be assessed/considered for a Fall Mini-Season team. If we have enough interest from players of similar age/skill level then se may for 1-3 teams for the short Fall mini-season, to participate in 3-4 local tournaments, in September-October.
The Fall Mini-Season is for players who are not currently playing on a school-based team. It’s a great way to have a short-season local team experience and stay sharp during the Fall so you can be ready for the longer Girls CLUB season… or just play on a Fall team and compete against other clubs and schools!
Fall Teams are formed by age/grade:
- 3rd-6th graders will compete in the 12U division (“Club” or “Open” level of local team play)
- 7th-12th graders will compete in “13U and Above” division (“Club” or “Open” level of local team play)
Birthdate does not matter for the Fall season, only your grade in school. Scroll down for TRYOUTS info!
For Fall 2025…
Teams we will form will depend upon interest and attendance at the first few SUNDAY Clinics in August. Possible teams:
- 12U (4th-6th graders) will compete in 2-3 tournaments in September & October. Practices on non-tournament Sundays and one weeknight, TBA.
- 14U (7th/8th graders) will compete in 2-4 tournaments in Sept/Oct. Practices on non-tournament weekends and one weeknight, TBA.
- HS age (9th grade & older) will compete in 2-4 tournaments in Sept/Oct. Practices on non-tournament weekends and one weeknight, TBA.
This mini-season will not conflict with the longer primary club season, since those teams do not start practicing until November.
If we do form teams fro Fall mini-season 2025, then more information will be posted here, along with a specific payment link
During the Fall mini-season, we strive to provide opportunities and make teams for all interested players, to help player development and prepare young players for the Club Season Tryouts (which take place in October).
Any high school players who did not make their high school team(s) are encouraged and welcome to come play on a Fall Local team with LJV and compete in local tournaments! (Update: LJV is not fielding a high school local team for the 2024 Fall mini-season).
Note to High School Players: It is against CIF rules for a player to play on their high school team and a club team during the same season.

Fall 2024 Mini-Season Teams Details
Practices
Fall school-based teams typically have practices 1-2x/week and will have 2 or 4 local (in San Diego County) half-day tournaments in Rancho Bernardo. Team-specific schedules and practice days will depend upon your daughters’ team placement. All Fall teams typically have two “events” per week, either 2 practices or one practice and a tournament.
Cuts?
We hope to field Fall teams for all interested players. However, we can never accurately predict the turnout of players and we may need to cut some players. Those players may choose to register for the series of Sunday practices in order to improve skills and confidence prior to Club Season Tryouts.
Tournaments & Games
- 2 or 4 half-day tournaments in Rancho Bernardo (“Fall-Series” at SDVBC)

- 7th-12th graders will use regular weight volleyball and full-height net in 13+ division
