Indoor club volleyball competitions are divided by age, but may differ for Local & Travel teams.

LOCAL indoor tournaments are only based on grade level in school:

• 12U = 6th grade and younger
• 14U = 7th and 8th grade
• 15/16U = 9th and 10th grade
• 17/18U = 11th and 12th grade

For TRAVEL tournaments, the governing body is the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) and they have defined cut-off dates based on birthdate, regardless of grade in school.  If your son or daughter will be competing on a Travel team, or participating in any SCVA or USA Volleyball sanctioned events, then she must adhere to the SCVA/USAV dates.

Here are the SCVA birthdate cut-offs dates for the 2024-2025 season:

• 18 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2006
• 17 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2007
• 16 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2008
• 15 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2009
• 14 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2010
• 13 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2011
• 12 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2012
• 11 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2013
• 10 and Under: players born on or after JULY 1, 2014
