Daniel grew up in Houston, TX and majored in Kinesiology and minored in Business Foundations at University of Texas at Austin.  While in college he played on the Men’s Club Volleyball Team. Was 2nd team all conference right side junior year, 1st team all conference his senior year.  Daniel also played a lot of beach volleyball around Austin, Houston, and Galveston, TX.  For his major, Daniel did an internship with the University of Texas woman’s Division I team as the Volunteer Assistant Coach under the tutelage of Jerritt Elliott.  Daniel also coached club volleyball in Austin at CAV for 12’s, 17’s, and 18’s.  Daniel graduated from UT in 2004 and moved to San Diego right after to pursue beach volleyball and surfing hobbies.  Upon moving to San Diego, Daniel coached for Club Allen Allen for 12’s and 15’s.

 

Fun fact: Daniel is half white, half vietnamese, but most people ask or assume he is Hawaiian.

 

Have worked last 8+ years as a Financial Data Analyst at SDG&E and OptumRx.  He also owns and maintains a few investment properties, and last year, Forbes wrote an online article about his recent success. Here is a link to the article:

 

Coach Daniel still actively plays beach volleyball and travels several times each year to pursue new and exotic surfing spots. He currently lives in Pacific Beach and also teaches surfing lessons to beginners.
