SPRING CLUB teams, Local and Travel

Spring is the primary girls “club” volleyball season throughout the nation at all age levels.  Tryouts and team placements occur in Fall (Oct & Nov), then practices begin in Nov/Dec, and tournaments begin in December.  Tournaments continue through May or June, depending on team.

La Jolla Volleyball’s Spring Season consists of 1-3 practices/week (depending on team placement), tournament entry fees, gym rental fees, uniform package, insurance, equipment and great coaching.

LJV Local teams (12U & 14U) will meet 8x/month and compete in the series of 6 local tournaments in Poway, January-May.  Practices begin in November.  Local teams may have additional scrimmages and/or tournaments, for additional cost as determined by each team.

LJV Travel teams are the most competitive teams in each age division and compete in the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) series of tournaments in Southern California, and additional multi-day tournament(s) as well as an end-of-June tournament: Summer Soiree in Anaheim, Festival in Phoenix, AAUs or USAV Junior Nationals.  Travel teams have a higher cost due to SCVA fees, tournament entries and additional coaching/travel time.

CIF San Diego Section Bylaw 600.1:  “Tryouts for club teams during the high school season of sport are not permitted. Practices during the high school season of sport with an outside team are considered a violation of this bylaw.”

What this means:  A high school player currently playing on her high school volleyball team may NOT participate in club volleyball tryouts until her high school season is over.  For example, if a Freshman player in high school is young enough to be eligible to play in 14U, but is still competing for her high school during 14U tryouts, she cannot actively participate in 14U tryouts.  But I believe you may contact that club to let them know you’re interested and would like to be considered.
